1937: Cuckfield's George VI Coronation celebrations; now for Charles III

CUCKFIELD



7.15 a.m. to 10.15 a.m: peal on the Parish Church bells

8:00 a.m. to 12 noon: fishing competition in Cuckfield Park lake

10:30 a.m: service of preparation for Coronation service in the Parish Church

11 a.m: relay Coronation service at the Parish Church

12.30 p.m: Dinner for old folk at the Queen’s Hall

2.15 p.m: Children's fancy dress parade, headed by the "If Its" Band, from the schools to the Recreation Ground

2.30 p.m: Songs by the school-children

2.-I5 p.m: Judging of children's fancy dresses

3 p.m. to 7 p.m: sports: 3 p.m: dancing display by Miss Vera Sutton's pupils

4 p.m: maypole and country dancing by school-children

5 p.m: "Fire, fire," by the Cuckfield Scout Group

5.30 p.m: tea for school-children at Queen's Hall

6.30 p.m: cycle football match the Central Sussex Cycling Club

7 p.m: parade and judging of decorated prams, push chairs. &c.

7.30 p.m: relay of speeches by Mr. Stanley Baldwin and the Prime Ministers of the Dominions

7.30 p.m: parade of tableaux

8 p.m: relay of King's speech

8.15 p.m: parade and judging of tableaux and ladies' and gentlemen's fancy dresses

8.45 p.m: procession formed in the Recreation Ground

9:00 p.m: torchlight procession, headed by the Haywards Heath Town Band, round the town

10.15 p.m: bonfire on the Recreation Ground

10.45 p.m: dance and whist drive at the Queen's Hall
