Cuckfield Thursday: the army obliges.
Important battles were fought on both the 1st and 2nd divisional fronts in connection with the Army manoeuvres in Susses today.
During operations a woman told an officer that her mother, who was 82 years of age, was anxious to see a tank in action. A few minutes later four tanks bustled along the roadway and began firing their three pounder guns.
While the opposing forces were in conflict in a leafy lane near Billingshurst, a hedge caught fire. The soldiers united in putting out the blaze.
