TREASURE IN WOOD
Constables Discover Gold Clock, and Fur Coat - London Men Charged
In the woods at Cuckfield two constables found a £100 fur coat, ornamental snuff boxes, a gold clock, a watch, a bicycle, cigar cases and walking sticks, and on the road nearby was a motor valued at £700.
The property belonged to Mr E.H.M.Denny, of Staplefield Place Sussex, and two London men, James Page, thirty seven, an accountant, and James Williams. Twenty seven, a journalist, were arrested and charged at Hayward’s Heath yesterday with entering the residence and stealing the articles.
Prisoners were committed for trial, bail being allowed.
