A FATAL HlTCH Great interest was taken in the rumour that 15 shops were going to be erected in the Broadway, because this would have made that locality the shopping centre of Haywards Heath. But there has occurred a fatal hitch.
The old covenants stipulate that no shops must be erected on the land for sale, and there are those living who might call for that stipulation to adhered to. Consequently the prospective purchaser has "cried off". It is a pity in one way, and yet on the other hand there are those who declare no more shops are wanted in the town.
