1923: Not his lucky day

There is at least one Cuckfieldian who believes in the superstition that the number '13' is unlucky. Last Tuesday

was the 12th of the month, and when he and his wife left a social at the Queen's Hall in the early hours of the morning the latter found that a pair of kid gloves left in her coat in the ladies dressing room had been replaced by a paid of woollen ones. In the evening the man win reported by the police for not having an off-side light on his motor van and during the night the motor shed was broken into and the rear lamp of the van stolen.
