1913: Disturbance at the Green Cross Ansty

CUCKFIELD A disturbance at the Green Cross inn, during which Mr. John King the landlord, tried fo eject a man for being disorderly, and broke a small bone his own foot in the struggle, was described to the Haywards Heath Bench on Monday, when Bertie Murrell, of Cuckfield, was summoned for refusing to quit the licensed premises, and for assaulting Mr. King. Murrell was fined £1, including costs for the assault and 10s. inclusive, for refusing to quit, or in default 10 days' and 7 days hard labour.
