1908: Water service problems


The water supply to the upper parts of Cuckfield for years has not been very satisfactory due to the non existence of a high level service it is now proposed to remedy the matter and £120 is to be applied for the purpose by the Water Board.


A committee consisting of Mr T Best Cuckfield Mr G Box (Ardingly) Mr S Knight (Cuckfield) Mr Plummer and Mr Pannett (Haywards Heath) and Major Lister JP has been appointed to consider the new scale of water charges.


Brook Street borehole the lining of the borehole at Cuckfield has been completed and the Waterworks Manager has taken samples of the water from the borehole and sent them for analysis to the Lister Institute of Preventive Medicine the report from institute is being awaited with interest.
