1882: Horse knocks over two-year old in Broad Street

Accident.

— On Tuesday evening, 18th inst., some children were playing on the road at Broad Street as one of Mr. Callow’s flys, from the King’s Head Hotel, was returning from Hayward’s Heath, when a little girl named Goddard, about two years old, attempting to cross the road, was knocked down by the horse. Hall, the driver, however, instantly checked the animal, and the child escaped the wheels.
