CUCKFIELD.
Unusual Visitation
The neighbourhood of Whiteman’s Green was considerably alarmed between one and two o’clock on Saturday with the appearance of a swarm of locusts, which settled thickly, and remained during the day, on the hedge of the garden in the occupation of Mr. Simmonds.
Every means were tried to scout the obnoxious visitors, and at last resource to fire was tried; from the effects of smoke and other remedies, the disagreeable insects happily disappeared for a more seasonable climate on Sunday.
