CUCKFIELD PARISH CHURCH.
To the Editor of The Mid-Sussex Times.
Sir, —I am not surprised at the remarks made in your columns last week respecting the singing at the above place of worship. It is the “same old game” over again.
Scarcely a week passes but what we are criticised by certain members of the congregation, and yet, strange to say, not one of these critics has the courage to come forward and help us.
We do not aspire to Cathedral services, or professional singing. We do our best (and that little we gladly give “free, gratis, and for nothing”) and I can safely say—defective as we are—there’s no other band of singers in Cuckfield to compete with us.
Yours truly,
A CHORISTER.
Cuckfield, Jan. 21st, 1881.
