1878: Reward to detain runaways

Cuckfield Union [Workhouse]


Clerk Mr Edward WAUGH, Cuckfield

ELIZA BREMEN, 44 years of age, 5 feet high, dark complexion, dark eyes, dark brows, wavy hair, and slight figure; pink striped print dress, black jacket, and bonnet.

Left children.


WILLIAM MOTT, 31 years of age, labourer, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, dark eyes, black hair, and slight figure; absconded with workhouse clothes, vix., light corduroy


Supposed to have left the workhouse with the above women.


JOHN MITCHELL KNAPP, 38 years of age, a carpenter's wheelwright, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, grey eyes, black hair, and stout figure; left family. Thought to be in Wandsworth, working as a carpenter by the name of Geo. Wheeler.


Ten Shillings Reward in each case.
